About

Our Studio Model

Open Project is a New York-based multidisciplinary design studio formed in 2012. We are collaborators by nature and by design, partnering with individuals, small studios, and large agencies—each experts in their own fields. Strategic and purposeful, this collaborative model affords us the opportunity to work on projects that often exceed the scope and scale of any of us individually. Most importantly, we are able to build—or join—a dream team for each project, with scalability that lets us keep it small and agile when we need to.

Our work is organic, and process-driven. We design for paper and screen, on surfaces and in spaces, visual and tactile, passive and participatory. You’ll find us in museums, in corporate headquarters, in sales environments, in hand, on shelves, and on the street, creating public and private statements, brands, and experiences of all scales.

We play an active role as mediator between client and audience, translating and interpreting objectives into provocative ideas and meaningful forms. Regardless of size or scope, our studio imperatives remain constant:

  • HONOR AND ELEVATE
  • CREATE RELEVANT FORM DRAWN FROM THE PROJECT’S CORE
  • COMMUNICATE MEANINGFUL CONTEXTS
  • LOOK FORWARD WHILE ACKNOWLEDGING HISTORIES AND LEGACIES
  • DESIGN WITH LYRICISM, INTELLIGENCE, AND AUTHORITY

We believe that design with rigor and purpose resonates longer and engages more deeply in the hearts and minds of the audience. Ultimately this is the discourse that we encourage with each project whether large or small, temporary or permanent, corporate or cultural.
